SPRING SEASON'S PROJECT 2014

Bridging cultures and continents,

the SAMAT-CHOIR from SHIRAZ/IRAN with its artistic director AZADEH AZIMI stayed with us in BERLIN!     Logo Samat-Chor
Thanks for a nice time and a phantastic gathering with great artistic performances!

A wonderful weekend: loads of enthusiasm, two well visited concerts and a lot of applause by the audience. A big "thank you" to all who helped to realize this project, who took part and supported it - and especially to our donors!
A wish from the hearts of our Persian friends came true: to sing under the roof of the Berlin Philharmonie. They did it in an unbelievable lively and cheerful presentation with beautiful singing partly combined with a scenic performance.
We wish SAMAT, meanwhile back again in their home country, to always find pleasure in music. And we thank them for coming - the visit enriched our music experience and it created an inspiring and lovable community we all shared and we will never forget!

Azadeh's life as an artist began in the dark and difficult times of the Iran-Iraq war. 'Everything was dark, when I was a child!' she remembers, 'Music was forbidden. Nowhere music could be heard, not even Iranian music.'

Despite of that she forms a choir in Shiraz.

Azadeh about her choir: 'Samat means silence. Many people believe music to be sound only. But I find it to be sound and silence. And since I found what makes me happy in silence, I named my choir - which is my child! - SAMAT.'
